At the Haddonfield Public Schools Board of Education meeting, on Thursday, February 2, 2017, Mr. Bill Kain ‘66, presented a check to the Haddonfield Education Trust. The gift was given by the members of the Class of “66 to support the Haddonfield Public Schools.
In all, the Class of ’66 reunion committee selected three causes to support with their class funds: the Haddonfield Educational Trust, the Brad Wilby Memorial Foundation, Inc., and the Anne Sullivan Skernolis Scholarship. Brad’s father, Robert Wilby, and Anne Sullivan were both members of this class. Scholarships, honoring Brad and Anne, had been previously established by their respective families.
The Class made these gifts with proceeds from their fiftieth reunion held on April 15-16, 2016. The group met at the Tap Room on Friday night, a venue better known to them in their youth as “Green Valley”. After a Saturday morning visit to the hallowed halls of HMHS, the group convened in the HMHS library for a photo collage and speeches commemorating the lives of classmates, teachers and coaches who have passed on. The group enjoyed cocktails, dinner, and time to get reacquainted at the Doubletree Hotel in Mount Laurel later that evening.
Of the 224 Class of ’66 graduates and HMHS classmates who graduated elsewhere, 71 attended the 50th Reunion. The celebration is not over! Fiftieth Reunion II is scheduled for May 5-6, 2017 in Carmel California allowing those living on the west coast to celebrate a little closer to home.
